TEC Yogyakarta Joined the 9th ICCF in UMY to Represent MOE Taiwan and Introduced Its Education Programs

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) initiated cultural events of various nations to get to know each other. This activity was packaged in the International Cultural and Culinary Festival (ICCF) on Thursday (4/25).

UMY’s rector, Prof. Gunawan Budiyanto said ICCF started in 2015. ICCF involves many foreign students in Yogyakarta, East Java, and Central Java. They made this program a joint activity. “To get to know each other through various cultures and culinary delights,” said Prof. Gunawan Budiyanto.

This year, the 9th ICCF 2024 is again part of the 43rd Anniversary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta with the theme “Taste the World, Embrace the Differences”. This event was conducted through several programs, such as Street Parade, International Street Kitchen, Traditional Performance Competition, Speech Competition, and many more. The event shows how UMY is open and accepts every culture worldwide.

At this event, Taiwan is also represented by the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Yogyakarta as the official representative of the Education Division of Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta, Indonesia. TEC Yogyakarta was invited to share information of Taiwan and its education system and programs by meeting the visitors of ICCF directly at the booth of TEC.

Furthermore, TEC served one of Taiwan’s snacks, pineapple cake, as the original food souvenir from Taiwan during this event. The visitors, who were primarily students of UMY and students around universities in Yogyakarta, came to the booth and asked the staff of TEC a lot of information regarding the study programs offered by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Taiwan, Taiwan universities, and the programs which will be held by TEC itself such as online Mandarin class, online Mandarin teacher training, and others.
