2024 Online Exchange Program for Junior Students between Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and Taipei Municipal Zhonglun High School (Taiwan)

On March 28, 2024, the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia Yogyakarta Regional Office and the Education Division TETO Indonesia and TEC Yogyakarta successfully held the 2024 online exchange program scheme between Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and Taipei Municipal Zhonglun High School (Taiwan) virtually. In this opportunity, the junior students at both schools became the agenda participants. The moderator opened the agenda and then continued with the opening remarks delivered by Ms. Grace Ou (Principal of the Education Division of TETO Indonesia), Dr. Liu Ching-ching (School Principal of Taipei Municipal Zhonglun High School), and Ms. Unik Rasyidah (Principal of Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta). From the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia, Bima Aoron and Dinda joined the program. After the opening remarks, the participants continued the agenda to the photo session.

In the presentation session, Zhonglun assigned four students to deliver the presentation. They introduced Taiwanese foods and explained the colors of Taiwan. Meanwhile, the Indonesian side assigned five students to present the presentation about Indonesian traditional dance, Indonesian traditional games, Indonesian traditional clothing, and folklore. The Taiwanese students showed a big interest in Indonesian culture, and some mentioned that Indonesia is very diverse and rich in cultural elements. The topics brought by the Indonesian and Taiwanese students were exciting and enriched each other’s knowledge about the facts of cultures and foods in both countries.

By understanding each other’s cultures, students from both schools could exhibit higher awareness and acceptance of cultural diversity. Seeing the many advantages of this activity, both schools look forward to planning other collaborations in the future since both schools have already signed an MOU on educational cooperation.
