The Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia – Yogyakarta visited SMK Muhammadiyah Pakem on November 1st, 2024, where they engaged students and teachers in a discussion about studying and interning in Taiwan. The TEC team was welcomed by Mr. Kasyadi, the principal of SMK Muhammadiyah Pakem, who delivered an opening speech to start the agenda.
The seminar, titled “Study in Taiwan: Planning Your Academic Journey in Taiwan,” aimed to give students a thorough understanding of Taiwan’s higher education system. The TEC team provided detailed information on scholarships offered by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MoE) and various universities across Taiwan. With the MoE Taiwan Scholarship 2025 opening early next year for Indonesian students, TEC took this opportunity to address questions about the application process and assist students in preparing for it.
Students were actively engaged, taking notes and showing enthusiasm for the idea of pursuing higher education abroad. Bima, the manager of TEC, also introduced the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), a program that allows students to study Chinese language directly with native speakers in Taiwan’s Chinese Learning Centers (CLCs), offering a valuable blend of academic and cultural experiences.
Bima then briefly presented the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP), giving students a glimpse into additional opportunities for international study in Taiwan. During the Question and Answer (Q&A) session, students expressed great interest, asking about the challenges of studying in Taiwan and strategies for managing language and cultural differences. The session was highly interactive, with many students eager to learn more about studying abroad in Taiwan.
