Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia – Yogyakarta visited SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta on Monday (8/5) to meet the students and teachers to facilitate face-to-face discussions about studying in Taiwan. The TEC team was welcomed directly by the principal of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta, Mr. Kustejo, who also delivered an opening remark.
On this occasion, not only visiting, but a seminar entitled “Study in Taiwan: Planning Your Academic Journey in Taiwan” was also presented by TEC to provide students with a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s higher education. The information given included the scholarships offered by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MoE) and the universities in Taiwan. Since the MoE Taiwan Scholarship 2025 will be opened in early 2025 for Indonesian students, TEC has been sharing much information about it, helping answer students’ curiosity about this program, and helping them prepare for the scholarship.
The participants in this seminar were taking notes and said that they are ready to pursue higher education abroad, including in Taiwan. In the presentation, Bima, the manager of TEC, also gave the information regarding Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), which is a scholarship to learn Chinese in Taiwan. This program allows the participants to learn Chinese directly from native Chinese speakers in a Chinese Learning Center (CLC) in Taiwan as well as gain new study and cultural experience.
Following the information on HES, Bima also explained the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) briefly as a new insight for the students. In the Question and Answer (Q&A) session, the students showed their excitement about studying in Taiwan. Most of them were curious about how hard it is to study abroad in Taiwan and how to cope with the language and cultural differences. This session was gaining a lot of attention, and many questions were given to the TEC Team.
