The Taiwan Higher Education Fair (THEF) 2023 was held in Surabaya on March 13-14, 2023 at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), Campus C, Universitas Airlangga. Meanwhile, THEF 2023 in Yogyakarta is back at the Sportorium Building of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), on Wednesday (15/03) to Thursday (16/03). THEF is held annually in three cities in Indonesia, namely Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta. This year, UMY is entrusted to hold this event again after successfully holding the previous THEF in 2017 and 2019.
THEF 2023 in Yogyakarta is the result of a collaboration between the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) Jakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, and the Taiwan Education Center in Surabaya (TECSID). The event in Yogyakarta was opened directly by the Director of the Education Division, TETO Jakarta, Grace Ou together with the Dean of International College, Asia University Taiwan who is also in charge of THEF 2023, Prof. Yinghuei Chen, Ph.D., and the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM. ASEAN.
The Rector of UMY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM. ASEAN. in his speech, expressed his appreciation to the Taiwanese government for giving trust to UMY in organizing THEF. At this event, not only Taiwan universities were presenting their programs, but the visitors of the education fair could take home some door prizes which will be given by answering the questions during the lucky draws. He hoped that the Indonesian students and the visitors of this event could be enlightened and gain the information they seek to continue their study in Taiwan.
At THEF 2023, visitors could meet in person with the official representatives from 35 universities from Taiwan and consult to choose a study program that suits their interests and talents, as well as discuss tips on getting accepted at various leading universities in Taiwan, to information on how to get a scholarship in Taiwan. Prof. Chen said that Taiwan is one of the countries in Asia that has the best educational institutions. Taiwan is also a friendly country for Muslim students in continuing their studies. Universities in Taiwan already have prayer rooms, halal food canteens and special toilets for Muslims, so this country is perfect for Muslim students who wish to continue their studies.
After Yogyakarta, the THEF 2023 will be moving to Jakarta as its last city for this education fair. The last roadshow of the education fair will be held on March 17, 2023, at the B Building of PPM School of Management, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
