On Thursday, October 18th, 2024 the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia – Yogyakarta team visited SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta to engage with students and faculty in a face-to-face seminar about studying in Taiwan. The TEC team was warmly welcomed by the school’s principal, Ms. Widi Astuti, S.Pd., M.Pd., who also delivered an opening speech, expressing the school’s enthusiasm for this educational collaboration.
During the visit, the TEC team conducted a seminar titled “Study in Taiwan: Planning Your Academic Journey”, aimed at providing students with comprehensive insights into higher education opportunities in Taiwan. The seminar highlighted various scholarships offered by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MoE) as well as the universities in Taiwan. In particular, the MoE Taiwan Scholarship 2025, which will be available for Indonesian students in early 2025, was a key focus. TEC’s presentation aimed to answer students’ questions and help them prepare for this scholarship opportunity.
Students were actively engaged during the seminar, taking notes and expressing their excitement about the prospect of pursuing higher education abroad, including in Taiwan. Bima, the TEC manager, also introduced the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES), a program that allows participants to study Chinese language in Taiwan. This scholarship offers a unique chance for students to immerse themselves in Chinese language and culture, learning directly from native speakers at the Chinese Learning Centers (CLC) in Taiwan.
Bima also provided a brief overview of the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP), giving students a glimpse into this opportunity to gain hands-on learning experiences and cultural exchange in Taiwan.
The seminar concluded with an engaging Question and Answer (Q&A) session, where students eagerly asked about the challenges of studying in Taiwan, including language barriers and cultural adjustments. The enthusiasm and curiosity of the students highlighted their strong interest in studying abroad, and many expressed their readiness to take the next steps toward achieving their academic dreams.
This visit was a valuable opportunity for SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta students to learn more about the exciting educational opportunities available in Taiwan, with TEC providing the necessary information and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their future.
