July 25, 2019, at AR. Fachrudin A Meeting Room, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) with Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) established the Taiwan Education Center (TEC). The establishment of the Taiwan Education Center at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta has a main purpose especially for UMY students who interested to studies in Taiwan, as well as those who will conduct programs such as Student Exchanges Programs.
Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. and Head of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia Ambassador John Chen officially opened the Taiwan Education Center in UMY. By signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by Taiwan’s representative office in Indonesia, Shufen Ou and Rector of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. He said that it is a pleasure for him to see Taiwan established education center at the university; thus, students could get direct information about studying in Taiwan.
UMY became one of the universities that were given trust by TETO as the place to establish the Taiwan Education Center in Yogyakarta which had previously found in 2 areas, Krida Wacana Christian University in Jakarta and Airlangga University in Surabaya. The relationship between UMY and several universities in Taiwan had gone very well. It can be seen from the election of UMY to be the host University for the Taiwan Higher Education Fair event in the last few years.
