October 20-26, 2024– A delegation of 19 principals from Muhammadiyah schools in Yogyakarta and other regions of Indonesia has embarked on an important visit to Taiwan, aimed at expanding educational collaborations. The week-long visit, which took place from October 20 to 26, 2024, involved meetings with universities and high schools, as well as the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to formalize future academic partnerships.
This program is organized by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, and the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Indonesia, in collaboration with the Taiwan Education Center (TEC) Indonesia Yogyakarta Regional Office and Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, Taiwan.
The delegation was led by Achmad Muhamad, Chairman of the Primary and Secondary Education Council of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, alongside Fathur Rahman, Secretary of the Council. They were joined by a group of distinguished school leaders representing Muhammadiyah institutions from across Indonesia:

- Dwi Yulianti – Principal of SMA Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Wonosari, Gunungkidul
- Widi Astuti – Principal of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta
- Kasyadi – Principal of SMK Muhammadiyah Pakem, Sleman
- Sigit Rohmadiantoro – Principal of SMK Muhammadiyah Prambanan, Sleman
- Upik Mairina – Principal of SMA Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat, Surakarta

During their visit, the delegation engaged with leading Taiwanese universities, such as Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, Taipei Medical University, National Chengchi University, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chung Hsing University, and visited high schools in Taiwan Cheng Yuan High School and Wenhua Senior High School. They are welcomed and discussed with the Ministry of Education Taiwan.
The principals also signed MoU with leading universities in Taiwan, including Lunghwa University of Science and Technology and National Cheng Kung University, as well as high school like Cheng Yuan High School. MOUs were signed at these institutions to foster academic collaboration in areas such as student exchanges, joint research, and teacher development programs.
This strategic visit also included exploring Taiwanese cultural landmarks and educational institutions, allowing the delegation to gain valuable insights into Taiwan’s education system. The trip highlighted the mutual commitment between Muhammadiyah schools and Taiwan to advancing education through global partnerships.
The visit concluded with optimism for future collaborations, reflecting a shared vision to expand educational opportunities and cultural understanding between Indonesia and Taiwan.
