- Culture is known as identity of country or region. Each country or region has their own culture. They has different culture each other. That differences of culture might be one of obstalce for students or people when they need to move to other country or region. Taiwan is country which has various culture. Therefore, those might be obstacle for some students or foreigner who stay there. In this article TEC-UMY try to list some differences culture between Indonesia and Taiwan. This cross cultrure may help you to get to know about Taiwan’s culture and what you need to prepare for it.
1. Honor Equality
Almost in some public transportation facilites you will see a variety symbols. Like the symbol of someone sitting in a wheelchair. The symbol is a priority symbol for someone with disability. The Taiwan’s government try to give more priority to people with special needs. Therefore, all the people in Taiwan need to respect with the symbols and priority for disability.
2. Walking on the right side
When you are in Taiwan for first time you need to notice to walk on the right side. This thing might be litle crucial thnig. We are Indonesian always walk on the left side either ride bike, motorbike or any transportation. Meanwhile in Taiwan everyone walks in the rigt side. So don’t be shock if almost everytime you are walking on the wrong path .
3. Taiwanese like to excersice at night
If you just arrived in Taiwan dont be shock if you find a lot of people go to field to do exercise. But, you will be shocked because Taiwanese tend to do exercise at night. They like to go to field, gym or sports area to do exercise at night. Meanwhile, Indonesian tend to do exercise at morning or evening time. So if you are in Taiwan and your friends ask you to join for exercise at night dont be shock!
4. Electric matic motor is most widely used in Taiwan
Different with Indonesia, in Taiwan you will see a lot of electric matic motor there. When you are in Indonesia, various types of motor with different brand, colors, and uniquess will fill the road. But, even thoguh Taiwan is one of the develop contries in the world, it seems like we won’t find motor with different types on the streets of Taiwan. You will realize that Taiwanese tend to ride electrice matic motor as their transportaion.
5. Taiwanese prefer to use public transportation
In Taiwan you can easy find public transportation. Taiwanese more prefer to use public transportation to go everywhere. They will use MRT or bus to go to work, school, shopping or just hang out. Moreover, use public transportation can save your money. It’s because to use public transportation cheaper then you ride your own transportation. So for Indonesia you have to get to used public transportation if you are in Taiwan.
